Bree Johnson-Obeng is award winning BBC journalist who prides herself on uplifting underrepresented voices into the main stream.
Her rediscovery of Barbara Blake Hannah (the first black broadcaster in Britain) spearheaded Sky news' first Black History Month piece in 2019. "One of my proudest moments as a journalist was collaborating with the British journalism Awards to create an inaugural Award honouring black talent named after Barbara, it felt so special knowing a story I brought into the mainstream created an opportunity for Black journalist to get the recognition they deserve".
Her work on black health disparities has been published in the Metro and ELLE magazine and was created into a Documentary entitled "Why is it harder to diagnose disorders on non-white skin?" for BBC News.
